The theme of the conference is ‘Promoting Inclusive, Safe, Resilience, and Sustainable Human Settlement in Disruptive Era’ which aims to contribute to the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of 2030 Agenda, especially Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities. The Goal 11 was further discussed in Habitat III in Quito, Ecuador in 2017 which resulted on the publication of the New Urban Agenda. Three principles of New Urban Agenda are (1) leave no one behind; (2) ensure sustainable and inclusive urban economies; and (3) ensure environmental sustainability. In 2018, the World Urban Forum published a document namely Kuala Lumpur Declaration to accelerate the implementation of the New Urban Agenda.

Many countries support the 2030 Agenda. For example, the implementation of SDG in Indonesia was ratified by Presidential Decree No. 59 in 2017 which followed by a document preparation of National Action Plan on Sustainable Development Goals. The implication lies on the understanding that all stakeholders should devote a serious attention to urban problems. Indeed, problems associated with urbanization is already chronic, such as inadequate infrastructure, lack of affordable housing, natural disaster, pollution and congestion. However, there is always opportunity for innovation and creativity in solving the problems. One of which, by conducting international seminar under related theme entails to the improved situation through new technology and innovation. The theme of this seminar is in line with the tagline of Universitas Trisakti. i.e., A One-stop Learning for Sustainable Development and tagline of Faculty of Civil Engineering and Planning which is Sustainability Engineering of Livable Space based on Local Wisdom.

Referring to National Action Plan on SDG, the seminar is expected (1) to bring together the researcher, engineers, professionals, and students in the scientific forum; (2) to share and to discuss theoretical and practical knowledge about the implementation of sustainable development. The theme can be developed and interpreted by participants and speakers who come from the field of architecture, urban design, and planning or other related fields.

Every participants are expected to provide insights and challenges on urban issues with novel approaches in which the problems are investigated and discussed not only to gain understanding but also to offer new ideas to create sustainable cities and communities.
